ORC for heating plants
Upgrade your heating plant with an ORC turbine and produce your own electricity
With a simple installation, you become a combined heat and power producer and contribute to a greener and more weather independent energy system.
From heat to combined heat and power
By burning/incinerating wood chips, biogas or waste in a hot water boiler connected to Againity’s ORC turbine, the fuel is converted into electricity and hot water.
The electricity produced can be used internally at the facility or sold externally, reducing the load on the local power grid. The hot water can be used for district heating, local heating of indoor environments or industrial processes.
Long experience
Heating plants play a key role in a sustainable and stable energy system. To date, Againity has helped around sixty heating plants become combined heat and power producers, while many still lack their own electricity generation. Againity supports the entire process, from potential calculations and system design to installation and service.

Ystad Energi AB, Sweden
Againity has delivered three automated ORC systems with a maximum capacity of 750 kW electrical output. The ORC systems produce electricity from the hot water of the heating boilers.
“Being able to have local, environmentally friendly electricity production using hot water boilers while also reducing the load on the power grid was important to us. I would also like to highlight the simplicity and robustness, which is why we chose Againity.”

Gullberna, Karlskrona
Againity’s ORC turbine installed at the Gullberna wood chip boiler at the heating plant in Karlskrona.
“After the installation of the ORC turbine at the Gullberna heating plant in Karlskrona, the facility became self sufficient in electricity.”
The ORC turbine in Karlskrona has a capacity of 355 kW and was installed in September 2022.
