How Againity’s battery system works
The battery system includes an intelligent energy management system (EMS) that optimises operation within the facility. The system has interfaces to connect existing electrical consumers such as buildings and equipment, electricity producers such as solar panels and backup diesel generators, and the power grid.
During normal operation, the energy storage is charged with surplus electricity from solar panels and or from the power grid when spot prices are lowest. By reducing peak power demand, known as peak shaving, grid fees are also reduced.
During a power outage, the battery system seamlessly takes over operation. You then use your own stored electricity to ensure that critical functions remain operational. Control of any backup diesel generators can also be integrated.

What does off grid functionality mean?
Off grid functionality, also known as island operation, means that your solar and battery system can continue to supply electricity even if the main power grid fails. During a power outage, the system automatically disconnects from the grid and switches to supplying the facility with stored energy. This ensures uninterrupted operation of critical functions such as cooling, heating and lighting.
